Residents at Old Raven House Care Home in Hook have enjoyed a sensational Christmas period. As the weather turns colder and the Christmas decorations go up, the characterful building we call our home transforms into a magically festive grotto.
During December the Old Raven House team and residents took part in the national initiative Christmas Jumper Day. Organised by Save the Children UK to raise awareness, its the perfect way to kick off the festive season and bring Christmas into our home. The day had a real party feel and we saw some impressive festive knitwear.
Each year we organise a trip to one of our beautiful village pubs for our pre-Christmas Christmas lunch. Our team members and residents enjoyed a turkey feast with all of the trimmings, complete with party hats and crackers.
With live music a popular part of our activities programme, we welcomed local entertainer Allan, a firm favourite at Old Raven House, to perform Christmas songs and party tunes. Our residents enjoyed singing along, with a few joining staff for a good old boogie!
Like all good Christmas celebrations, ours was filled with delicious, seasonal food prepared by our chefs Justin and Lynne. They worked hard over the holidays to ensure our residents got to enjoy all of the Christmas classics they love. As well as a delicious Christmas dinner, the big day itself involved lots of present giving and games.
We finished 2019 with a gathering in the Old Raven House lounge to see in the New Year watching the fireworks on television and singing along to Auld Lang Syne. The big highlight of welcoming in 2020, as always, was our New Years Day buffet. With a gorgeous array of party food, we celebrated with fizz and wine.
Happy New Year from all at Old Raven House!
