Our charming Grade II listed property is steeped in history. With its timber-frame and herringbone brickwork, Old Raven House dates back to the 1500s, having also served as a coaching inn during its lifetime. The garden blooms with colourful flowers in the summer months, while the characterful reception rooms in the original part of the house provide a warm, homely feel during the winter. Not far away you’ll find the tranquil nature reserves of Hook Common and Bartley Heath. An expanse of heathland and woodland that supports a fascinating range of wildlife, where you can watch New Forest ponies. Old Raven House Care Home is on a main bus route, close to Hook railway station and junction 5 of the M3, and just 7 miles from Basingstoke.

Meet the Manager

Anne Turner, Care Home Manager

My name is Anne Turner, and I have been the registered Manager of Old Raven House for the past 16 and a half years. I am a graduate in Health and Social Welfare, which I completed with the Open University.

I started my working career working in a bank, and then in Admin positions until it was suggested to me that I take a role in a Nursing Home. I never looked back. I developed an almost instant passion for caring for people who live with Dementia. I studied and completed my Registered Manager’s award, and was then recommended by a mutual contact for the Manager’s role at Old Raven House.

I have worked closely with my team, to develop a unique and individual home, where people are truly valued, whether as residents, staff or visitors.

Old Raven House is a combination of Olde Worlde charm and modern extensions, which work well together. The old house dates back to the 16th century, which brings its challenges, but is often ‘familiar’ to residents, with its open fireplaces and wood panelling.

In what is genuinely a family environment, my team and I are proud of the homely atmosphere and the warmth and care we all offer and receive.

Testimonials

Suzanne G (Daughter of Resident)

"Our mother was a resident of The Old Raven Care home for 8 years and during this time she received excellent care and support from the staff. The building itself is very attractive, having a very homely feel and the gardens surrounding the building are beautiful all year round. Inside the layout is probably quite unconventional for a care home, as residents and visitors can wander through the staff room but this meant that staff were always approachable.
We really appreciated the continuity of staff and several became firm favourites of our mother. Over the years we came to know the majority of the staff and there was always a friendly atmosphere in the house. Visitors were always made welcome. In the last few years, there has been an emphasis on craft, activities and outings which our mother enjoyed when she was well enough to participate. We'd like to thank the owner, manager and the team for all their kindness over the years and let them know their hard work is appreciated."

Imelda P (Friend of Resident)

"The care at Old Raven House is constantly very good. Staff are always bright and friendly chatting freely with all the residents in a manner personal to each individual so that the individual can respond comfortably in conversation according to that resident's interests and needs.
Each of my visits and contact with Old Raven House confirms that my decision to choose Old Raven House for my friend was exactly right.
Staff always respond to residents needs with great respect."

Robin F (Husband of Resident)

"Having experienced two "Hell Homes" last year, Old Raven and the staff have proved that "Care Home" is just that.
Real care, compassion and home from home.
I am so lucky to have such a wonderful residence for my wife."

Derek H (Husband of Resident)

"Since my last review in December 2016, I still visit most days to see my wife who has Alzheimer's. She still gets the consistent care from the dedicated staff and the manager and her professional team give us endless support. The food is still of a high standard and cleaning and laundry are ongoing daily.
There are indoor activities and in summer, trips out to various attractions. The gardens are large and well kept so residents and visitors can sit and enjoy.
A very welcoming home."
