Visiting and Admissions
Come and See Old Raven House for Yourself
Choosing a care home for someone you love is one of the biggest decisions a family makes, and it rarely feels easy. If you are reading this while worrying about a parent, you are in exactly the right place – and the most useful thing we can offer you is not a webpage, but an hour at the home itself.
Families are welcome to visit at any time. There is no pressure and no sales patter; just a look around, a cup of tea, and honest answers to your questions.

What to Expect When You Visit
You will meet members of the team, see the rooms and the shared spaces, walk around the gardens, and get a feel for the atmosphere of the home – which tells you more than any brochure.
Ask us anything: fees, care needs, food, daily life, what happens if needs change. You will get straight answers, including about what we do not provide, such as nursing care.
Step by step
How Admissions Work
Every family’s situation is different, but admissions usually follow the same gentle sequence.
- A conversationYou tell us about your loved one, their needs and your circumstances, by phone or in person.
- A visitYou look around the home and meet the team; your loved one is very welcome to come too.
- A care needs assessmentWe spend time with your loved one to understand their needs, routines and preferences properly, and to be sure we can care for them well.
- A care plan and agreementWe set out the care we will provide and the fees, clearly and in writing.
- Moving inWe help the move feel as settled as possible, with the room made personal before arrival wherever we can.
When time is short – after a hospital stay, for example – the process can move quickly. Respite stays and day visits can also be a gentler first step than a permanent move, and many families begin that way.
Making a room their own
Moving In: What to Bring
Rooms at Old Raven House become residents’ own. Bring photographs, keepsakes, a favourite chair – residents are welcome to bring their own furniture if they wish – and the familiar things that make a room feel like theirs.
We will talk everything else through with you before the day.
Rooms
Availability
Room availability changes, so please ask when you enquire. If a room is not available immediately, we will tell you honestly and let you know what to expect.
